Mark's interest in photography began at age 10 when his father gave him his first camera, a Canon AE-1 Program and his love grew from there.  In high school he took his first photo class where he began developing his portfolio.  Since high school he has continued taking photo classes at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and is now on track to begin school at Montana State in Bozeman in the fall of 2010 to complete his photography degree.

Harboring a love for medium and large format photography Mark considers himself primarily a landscape and travel photographer. This search for new landscapes and subject matter helps him to justify his constantly being “on the move” to his family and any skeptics of his transient lifestyle! He always has and hopes always to be able to come home and spend his summers on the river in Trempealeau, Wisconsin. His winters have been spent in Northern Minnesota, Northern California, Western Washington, and various towns in the Midwest. Mark and his wife Abby currently reside in Trempealeau but are gearing up for their move next summer to Bozeman, MT after the birth of their first child in February.

Mark shoots with a variety of cameras: a Hasselblad 501c, a Nikon N80, a Canon A1 and a Nikon D70.   He has also taken many photos with hand crafted pinhole cameras as well as any other cameras he can get his hands on.

All B&W images are printed on Ilford FB papers and selenium toned by Mark. All color and canvas prints are professionally printed.  Mark also mats and frames his own prints with Bainbrage-Nielsen Artcare matboard and TruVue UV glass.
